Are you attending next month’s Annual Meeting in Chicago? Then take advantage of these opportunities to engage with SITES experts, staff, and project leaders.

The Sustainable Sites Initiative (SITES®) is a set of comprehensive, voluntary guidelines together with a rating system that assesses the sustainable design, construction, and maintenance of landscapes. By aligning design and development practices with the functions of healthy ecosystems, SITES provides a valuable tool that demonstrates how designers and other stakeholders can improve upon the value of a site through regenerative landscapes and an ecosystem services framework. Administered by GBCI, the SITES rating system can apply to developed projects located on sites with or without buildings—ranging from national parks to corporate campuses, streetscapes, homes, and many more.

Register for this workshop:
WS-003 – SITES “Hackathon”: A Hands-on, Real-world Introduction to the SITES v2 Rating System
Friday, November 6 from 1:00 – 5:00 pm

Join practitioners, emerging professionals and students as you hack through a SITES submittal. Using ASLA’s Chinatown Green Street Demonstration Project as a case study, workshop attendees will tackle the SITES prerequisites and credits. Gain intimate, hands-on knowledge of these requirements, which will ensure your future success leading SITES projects.

Attend this session:
SAT-B05 – Ask the Experts: Questions about the SITES Rating System, Certification, and More
Saturday, November 7 from 2:30 – 4:30 pm

This is an opportunity to get your SITES questions answered by the experts who developed the rating system, work on project certification, and have completed certified pilot projects. Come prepared to stump the experts and challenge the panelists to prove how SITES can work for you. Attendees will become familiar with the challenges of SITES and recognize solutions for successful certification, identify the lessons learned from experience on SITES-certified pilot projects, apply the advice of certification experts to future SITES projects and solve common problems on their own after hearing accounts from others.
