With the start of summer, you may be seeking new opportunities or projects to take part in to kickstart the season. ASLA’s RFQs, Opportunities, and Events page provides information on everything from calls for papers to competitions. Below, we highlight a few requests for proposals and qualifications, calls for proposals, and ASLA programs with deadlines coming up soon. Anyone who would like to share an opportunity may submit information online.

Women of Color Licensure Advancement Program
Deadline to apply: June 30, 2023

State licensure signifies a level of professional competency and is an important way to achieve greater career and business success. The Women of Color Licensure Advancement Program supports women of color in their pursuit of landscape architecture licensure and increase racial and gender diversity within the profession. Now in its second year, the program will provide 10 women of color with a two-year, personalized experience that includes up to $3,500 to cover the cost of sections of the Landscape Architectural Registration Exam (LARE), along with exam preparation courses, resources, and mentorship from a licensed landscape architect.

Call for Speaker Proposals: City Parks Alliance’s Greater & Greener
Deadline: July 14, 2023

City Parks Alliance has announced the Call for Speaker Proposals for Greater & Greener 2024 in Seattle, June 21-25. Greater & Greener is where parks leaders from the public, private, and nonprofit sectors; elected officials; design professionals; community and issue advocates; funders; and other innovators come together to explore the role of parks and recreation in creating more sustainable, vibrant, and equitable cities. The program tracks are:

  • Parks and a Changing Climate
  • Equitable and Sustainable Park Funding
  • Inclusive Parks and Public Spaces
  • Parks, Recreation, Health, and Wellbeing

Request for Proposals for the Town of St. Michaels: Public Design Charette and Master Plan
Deadline: July 21, 2023

The Commissioners of St. Michaels, Maryland, is soliciting the services of a professional land planning, urban design and landscape architecture consultant team for the Public Design Charette and Master Plan for a 7.61-acre waterfront public park.

Historic American Landscapes Survey (HALS) Challenge: Working Landscapes
Deadline: July 31, 2023

Short format histories should be submitted no later than July 31 to HALS at the National Park Service. Please download the MS Word digital HALS Short Format Historical Report Template and read it thoroughly before entering the competition. If you like to learn by example, you may view or download the HALS Challenge winners from 2018 and before.

Request for Qualifications for Mounts Botanical Garden of Palm Beach County Master Plan
Deadline: August 4, 2023

The Friends of the Mounts Botanical Garden, Inc. is looking for design professional services from a firm qualified and experienced in the preparation of master plans for botanic gardens and arboreta. The selected firm will provide a comprehensive site master plan with full narrative description for the Mounts Botanical Garden in West Palm Beach, Florida. The plan will include new features and enhanced gardens, parking and visitor amenities; architectural planning study of potential new buildings/features; templates for garden furnishings. The selected consultant will also lead stakeholder meetings during the planning process; identify parcels for acquisition and expansion; develop phasing plan for implementation; develop cost estimates and related activities all as further described in the Request for Qualifications (RFQ).
