Schoolyard Forest Design Lecture Series
September 7-December 7, 2023
This series, hosted by Green Schoolyards America, will provide technical, design-focused guidance for creating and stewarding high-quality green schoolyards and schoolyard forests. Sessions will feature presentations by subject-area experts including Green Schoolyards America staff, along with time for audience Q&A.
RFP: Indiana Borough Zoning Ordinance Update

The Borough of Indiana, located in Pennsylvania, is accepting proposals for a one-time contract to guide the update of the Borough’s Zoning Ordinance with the objective of providing City leaders, staff, business owners, developers, and residents a rewritten ordinance that is future focused, responsive to emerging needs, and built around creating and cultivating a great place.
RFP: Capitol Mall Design Framework

Minnesota’s Capitol Area Architectural and Planning Board seeks a consultant team to develop an updated Capitol Mall Design Framework for the Capitol Area in Saint Paul, Minnesota. The Mall Framework will build upon the 2040 Comprehensive Plan for the Minnesota State Capitol Area and the prior Capitol Mall Redesign Plan (originating in the mid-1980s) to shape, guide, and manage the Minnesota State Capitol campus environment and its physical form. CAAPB is looking for consultant teams with specialized knowledge and expertise including, but not limited to: urban design and campus design; landscape architecture design and management, historian/historic resources and preservation; stormwater design and management; wayfinding, mobility, public art; event management; personal safety; media, communication, and public engagement; pre-construction cost estimating; project management and implementation.

The Architect’s Newspaper 2023 Best of Design Awards

The Architect’s Newspaper’s 11th annual Best of Design Awards is a unique project-based awards program. Entrants are invited to submit completed works in 39 categories which reflect AN’s editorial coverage, as well as the interests of AN readers, including: Landscape, Urban Design & Master Plan, Social Impact, and Student Work.
RFQ: Headworks Restoration Phase IV – Park Design
Deadline: October 12, 2023
The scope for Phase IV includes the design of a landmark park that will be situated on the roof of Headworks Reservoir West, a potable drinking water reservoir within the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) Water System.
Designed Dutch Ecosystems: Landscape Management Lessons from Heemparks of the Netherlands

Netherland’s heemparks, public parks designed with native Dutch species to reflect local ecosystems, are a unique albeit understudied landscape typology. This presentation will discuss specific heempark management techniques, explain how varying levels of management intensity impacts species richness, and posit how integrating landscape management into the design process is crucial to ensuring that designs remain beautiful and species-rich long after installation, as so many heemparks have successfully achieved. The live virtual lecture takes place on October 24; the session will be recorded and viewable to registrants for three months after the live session date.
